10.11.18 is a 9-minute work that explores the sensation of breath through abstract colors. The video piece was constructed just after my father passed away because the EMTs did not perform CPR on him in time. The breath was recorded from his bedside while he was in the ICU for 9 days before we chose to take him off life support. 10.11.18 was my way of working through this difficult loss. The visuals help the viewer be more present with the sounds and imaginatively represent what one sees behind their eyelids while their eyes are closed. Besides being a video about a personal death, I hope the piece helps the viewer contemplate their own life and possibly be a moment of meditation for them.
